A FORMER Heart of Worcestershire College student has gone on to become a successful entrepreneur building a successful business.

James Vincent, who attended the former Worcester College of Technology, now Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College), studied business before progressing on to the University of Worcester to complete his degree in business management and marketing.

After leaving Mr Vincent built a successful career as the co-owner of local marketing and public relations agency, Hot Source Creative.

Based in Bromsgrove and Worcester, Hot Source Creative specialises in strategy, creativity, design and innovative technology.

Mr Vincent said: "The college gave me the skills that I needed to develop as an entrepreneur.

"The flexibility of the course enabled me to work alongside my studies, I attended lectures on average two days a week, which gave me the opportunity to earn as well as further my education.”

Mr Vincent said the support of the college would lead him to gain confidence, to take into his later career.

“When I finished my A-levels I lacked confidence but the college gave me the skills and the knowledge I needed to succeed," Mr Vincent said.

"I found the college environment really supportive.

"The lecturers were always on hand to help me and the small class sizes allowed me to have more one-to-one tutorials which expanded my understanding of the business sector.

"The modules covered different areas of business from marketing to management; which helped me decide which area I wanted to specialise in at university. ”

HoW College offers a range of business courses from Level 2 qualifications to a full degree delivered in partnership with Staffordshire University.
