A simple approach, and clarity – that is what people who are buying or selling businesses want and need.
I break a deal down into simple language which is easy for everyone to understand – mergers and acquisitions are, after all, buying and selling, in ordinary language.
The focus of my work is primarily owner-managed businesses, ranging from local independent businesses to nationally recognised companies.
Owner-managers are specialists in their own business, and they, in turn, want to deal with someone who is a specialist in buying and selling businesses and who will work with them to achieve what they want.
I enjoy getting to know my clients and finding out what they really want; building a rapport with clients is key – that way, I can make sure that the process runs as smoothly as possible.
It is really all about providing clients with the right solutions, and that’s a matter of experience as much as anything else.
I’m not new to this – I’ve been here for about 19 years and there’s a very good chance that, whatever issue a client brings to me, I will have dealt with something similar before.
From the outside, we might look like a big machine, and some clients fear that we will only give them a 'big-company' solution. But the truth is that we’re a big machine made up of small cogs so we are used to working with businesses of all kinds.
I am very aware that each client is unique and I will, therefore, focus on what works for that individual client; there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach.
