I WOULD like to take the opportunity to promote some of the new schemes made available to help businesses with their own recovery by recruiting young people in the county.

The Government announced their ‘Plan for Jobs’ back in April this year to help get the country’s young people into work and training placements. As part of this, a new wave of support incentives were introduced around Apprenticeships, Traineeships and the new Kickstarters.

One of the highlights was the Kickstarter scheme, this offers smaller businesses an opportunity to employ a young person for a six-month placement with funding from the Government for every kickstarter employed. Apprenticeships and Traineeships also offer new financial rewards.

Organisations who hire apprentices between August 1 and January 31 2021 are able to claim up to £2,000 per apprentice or £3,000 for those aged 16-18. Employers who recruit new trainees can now claim £1,000 per trainee.

We wanted to make it easy for businesses to understand the new benefits, so the Worcestershire Careers Hub team are working with Worcestershire Business Central and Worcestershire Apprenticeships to breakdown the benefits into easy to digest PDFs which also cover how to get involved which each of the schemes.

If you would like to learn more about this new support, visit the new Worcestershire Business Central dedicated webpage covering the Plan for Jobs announcement. https://www.business-central.co.uk/plan-for-jobs-2020/

For those ready to enquire about hiring through the schemes, please speak with the Worcestershire Business Team in the first instance by emailing info@business-central.co.uk or phoning 01905 677 888.
