PERSHORE-based health and safety training company First Response Training and Consultancy Services Ltd is celebrating a major contract win.

The firm, which has been operating since 1997, has been asked to provide training for the Greater Manchester's 11,000 police officers and police staff.

The contract will be delivered over three years, with an option to extend to five years.

Staff will receive a one-day training course covering emergency life support and first aid. Officers and staff working in custody suites will receive additional training in the care and treatment of those who may be abusing substances, vulnerable to suicide risks or suffering from psychiatric disorders.

"This is one of the biggest first aid contracts ever awarded in the UK," said First Response training manager director Darren Eden. "Greater Man-chester Police is the second largest police force in England and we look forward to a long and successful working relationship with them."
