NAMESCO Limited, one of the UK's largest independent internet service providers, has launched its new tvMax Broadband and Digital television service in Worcester.

Based at the recently developed Perdiswell Park in the city, Namesco provides internet services to more than 160,000 customers nationwide and with constant growth currently employs more than 50 local people.

The firm says the new tvMax broadband and digital television service finally gives Worcestershire a genuine alternative to Sky television, providing more than 50 channels of digital TV and radio.

With its built in hard disk recorder, it also has the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV at the touch of a button.

The fully featured service includes a high speed broadband connection with speeds up to 8Mb, which enables features such as the ability to view and share digital photos, movies, music and podcasts over the internet as well as the home network.

The benefit of tvMax with broadband enables the user to surf the web and send and receive e-mails without leaving the living room.

Kevin Savage, Namesco managing director, said: "At Namesco we work with some of the world's most exciting and cutting edge technology every day. As someone who has lived in Worcester since I was born, it's great to be able to bring this technology to the local community in a way that will benefit Worcestershire as a whole."

Namesco has partnered with leading French set-top box manufacturer Netgem to develop the service, which is the first of its kind in the UK. Although Netgem is a large French listed company, Netgem's chief country officer in the UK, Phil Walder, is also Worcester-based, making this a great success story for the city.

Pricing for the service starts at £25.95 per month and is now available at www.tvmax.co.uk
