ENGLAND fans are being asked to act responsibly when they enjoy the Euros.
Fans are set to flock to pubs in Worcester city centre and across the county for the first match at 2pm on Sunday.
During the World Cup three years ago fans gathered in The Cross after England wins, but similar gatherings are banned under Covid restrictions this time.
Chief Inspector Tanya Beckett of West Mercia Police said: “It’s great football fans will be able to enjoy the Euros this year following their postponement last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"That said, we are still in the midst of the pandemic, and with an upsurge in the Delta variant, it’s important people continue to abide by the COVID-19 restrictions.
"We, like other forces across the country, have plans in place and will use appropriate legislation if required.
“This is an exciting time for both sport fans and the whole country as we continue to move along the roadmap out of lockdown, but it’s important we take those steps safely and responsibly.”
