SIR – Why do we have to paint yellow lines to tell drivers where they should not park (Worcester News, December 6)?
What has happened to the regulation of ‘causing an obstruction’?
On a bus route, if two buses in opposite directions cannot pass each other then surely that is an obstruction.
If London Road in Worcester was deemed necessary to have yellow lines then surely Spetchley Road should be treated the same.
At times during the day an emergency vehicle would have no chance.
It would be cheaper just to charge owners with ‘causing an obstruction’ than to paint yellow lines and have someone enforce it.
It is up to drivers to park in accordance with traffic regulations.
