SIR – The article by Catherine Phillips (Worcester News, January 22) again highlights the dangerous junction in Bilford Road with Astwood Road, Worcester.
Even in the 1950 and 1960s, I found this road hazardous as a cyclist.
I was amazed recently when I saw an 80-year-old attempting to cross on foot – it was in an off-peak period but it was so difficult.
A spokesman for the county council said that they had carried out speed recording and accident records checks but no further plans for additional road safety were envisaged, apart from monitoring the situation.
I wonder if the officials involved have tried using Shank’s pony in the rush hour, or would that not be possible due to ‘health and safety’?
