SIR – I am very pleased to see the Worcester News (January 25) reporting such a positive approval from the city council planning committee regarding the outline permission for the new leisure facility and pool at Perdiswell.
Especially encouraging is the foresight from the committee reminding the council that the facility needs to be big enough to cope with tomorrow’s demand and not just today’s.
It is tough times but the new improved, modern, efficient single site is proposed to generate £350,000 a year as opposed to now whereby old Perdiswell and Sansome pool cost us all £350,000 a year.
The new centre will add so much to us all and to the city and in effect will pay for itself. I do still appeal to the council to try to use local workers and merchants, so giving a £13 million boost to the city economy.
Cabinet and full council consideration is still to follow and I sincerely hope we will see good constructive debate and a positive outcome to what will be such a positive move for our city.
