SIR – I have a question for the public-spirited shopper (Worcester News, February 1) whose photograph, above, of a police car in a disabled space dominated your front page. Had they themselves been a victim of crime in the same supermarket, and awaiting the arrival of police officers, would they have expected them to slowly navigate the car park to find a suitable spot, or would they have preferred the driver to pull into the first available space (reserved or not) and hurry to the scene of the crime?

I suspect I know the answer.

Our police officers are an easy target, and it seems more vulnerable than ever to the cheap shot.
