SIR – Re your story about the number of taxis in Worcester ‘Threat to put limit on cabbie numbers’ (Worcester News, February 22).

I was flabbergasted by what I was reading.

Worcester City Council has increased the number of taxi ranks by removing city centre parking for disabled people.

I have been told by the council that the reason for this was because more people are using taxis than ever before.

Well, this story confirmed what I always thought, the council is only interested in lining its pockets and doesn’t care about its residents.

Your story actually said that people are not using taxis and that they are just standing on the ranks.

So it just shows that no research was done when removing disabled spaces.

If they had it wouldn’t have been done in the first place.

The taxi people and the council have a lot to answer for because it is now in print that we do not need nor have we ever needed the extra taxi ranks in Worcester, especially when it meant disabled people loosing city centre parking.
