SIR – George Osborne appears once again to be targeting the OAPs in his crusade to save an extra £11 billion in cuts. He wants to stop winter fuel allowances for 100,000 ex-pats living overseas.

There could possibly be a case for this but why should they lose out? If they have paid into the system of this country all their working lives, why shouldn’t they take a little back?

Perhaps it would be more beneficial if we stopped handing out benefits and freebies to all who come from overseas and can claim from day one without contributing anything.
