SIR – It’s good to read that some of us are getting neighbourly help in feeding children from the food bank but I hope no one feels they need to go cap in hand as you write in your Comment (Worcester News, August 20).

Rather, they should be full of anger that the disgusting inequality of wealth and income in our country puts them in this position.

We should all demand that the Government ends this scandal by taxing properly wealth and income and by ensuring that companies pay all workers the living wage.

Then there will be enough money in most people’s pockets to feed their families and live a decent life and adequate help from the state to support those unable to find work.

Inequality of wealth and income are now greater than at any time since we achieved democracy, and they continue to grow.

It is time for our politicians to use the results of democracy to move towards equality of wealth and income, not move away from it.
