SIR – Like Councillor [Richard] Udall (Worcester News, August 21) I too am concerned about public transport to the new surgery at Grove Farm.

First bus company says that extending the Dines Green service, number 30, would jeopardise the commercial performance of the service.

When the university wanted the Henwick Park service, number 31, rerouted through the university grounds it seems that this very awkward rerouting was not a problem – the narrow roadway and traffic humps which make the journey difficult and time consuming and cause some inconvenience to passengers in Comer Gardens and Fern Road did not seem to matter.

Most students are fit enough to walk to the gateway of the university (obviously there are some disabled students who would struggle) but many of the senior citizens who currently use St John’s House surgery will find it hard going to get to the new surgery if they do not have their own transport.

How is it fair to treat the ‘petrol leg’ generation with more consideration than the elderly?
