SIR – I wanted to put into writing my appreciation and gratitude for the caring, conscientious and professional staff in our local NHS Trusts.

My father passed away in September at Malvern Community Hospital at the age of 89. He had become gradually more disabled and unwell during the eight years he lived with my family in Malvern.

We could not have supported him without the wonderful care we were given by Malvern Link GP Surgery, their district nurses, the health visitor for older people, Malvern Community Hospital and Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

At Worcestershire Royal the paramedics and nurses in A and E were rushed off their feet but were kind and efficient despite the hectic conditions they work in, as were those in all the wards we experienced, the stroke ward, the cardiology ward, the acute medial admissions unit and the Highfield Unit.

At Malvern Community Hospital the care was fantastic.

We are so lucky with our local healthcare services.

Contrary to some media coverage, we have had first-hand experience of wonderful family healthcare and felt truly supported by all the kind and dedicated doctors, nurses and carers mentioned above.

Thank you all so much – keep going. You are truly appreciated.
