SIR – In September my friend and I were visiting Worcester for the first time.

We travelled on the park and ride bus to the city and had a very fine day.

On returning to the place where we had alighted in the morning, no one knew from where our bus left and our tickets had no information from which park and ride area we had come.

This was unknown by both local folk or the bus drivers themselves.

After much questioning we were directed to take the 31A to the hospital and from there to go by another bus to Three Ways.

This was all very disconcerting, but we did. At the arrival at the hospital we thought ‘What now?’ However a lady, Mrs Chivers, who had noted our anxieties on the bus and in getting off, came to help us. We were to return to Worcester and she described the bus we were to look for.

She was polite, thoughtful and helpful.

We did return to our original getting off spot and found the last bus to our destination, with coincidentally the same driver from the morning’s journey – he recognised us.

So on the last park and ride bus for the day we arrived at an empty coach park, except for our car.

What an adventure, not to be repeated.

But in spite of this we did have a good day in your city and we will visit again.

But would you allow us to say thank you. Thank you to our lady rescuer, Mrs Chiver, wherever she may be.

Even so late.
