SIR – With the Holocaust memorial day approaching this month it is time not only to remember what crimes were committed by the Nazis, but also to remember the ten million murdered by the Chinese communists under Chairman Mao.

We should not forget the 25 million murdered by Stalin in the former soviet regime, including the millions of Ukrainians deliberately starved to death.

Also not to be forgotten is the role of the Labour government in 1946/48 in sending back over one million east European civilians and military personnel to Stalin knowing that these people were to be murdered as soon as possible.

The Nazis were punished at Nuremburg for their crimes, but no one was ever punished for the soviet crimes. These crimes are seldom mentioned by the media.
