Sir - I read one of John Phillpott's comments on Saturday with incredulity.
I realise he writes to provoke comment, but surely even he must know he has over-stepped the mark of decency to suggest that there be 'a statute of limitations regarding events so long ago that no one could accurately or honestly recall with clarity'.
I am paraphrasing from his 'article' concerning the recent cases of 'celebrities' who have been found guilty of sexual offences against children and women.
Such victims have been silent for many years through shame and fear and, using huge amounts of personal strength and courage finally found the confidence and a voice to speak out about the heinous crimes these despicable men perpetrated upon them.
Perhaps Phillpott should take a moment to consider the devastating and life-changing effect such hideous sexual offences have upon the victim and try to understand that manipulative sexual predators must be brought to justice.
