Sir - I agree with Robin Walker MP that the lack of affordable new homes is shocking. However I'm not surprised as we allow developers to build too many luxury houses.
I think we need to clarify what affordable should mean perhaps? Personally I do not consider social housing to be the same. This is housing that years ago was provided by local councils.
Affordable housing should be available to the many at work who are on low incomes, such as the minimum wage.
Coincidently I read that the Trinity House project is in trouble due to a lack of backers. Perhaps this could be developed into reasonably priced apartments? It would also help to regenerate the city centre which like many is the domain of the alcohol fuelled revellers and later at night abandoned.
