Sir - On page 13 of Saturday’s edition of the Worcester News, an article titled ‘X Factor singer entertains shoppers’ was published which focused on the former talent show contestant Giles Potter and his band Exposure.
Whilst I am not questioning the amount of talent that these boys may have, I wish to query the choice of picture used to accompany the article.
Giles Potter, apparently the most well known of the trio shown, is clearly wearing a t-shirt with a cannabis logo on it. Now, for a seemingly sensible young lad I am sure that he does not advocate drug-use or intended to promote it in anyway, however in hindsight the photographer may have wanted to choose a better suited picture.
As a handsome young man Giles’ popularity amongst the youngsters would inevitably influence others on how to dress and act but this journalistic “hiccup”, I feel, depicts Giles and his friends in the wrong way, nearly adding them to the typical teenage boy stereotype…of which I am sure they are not.
