Sir - I am one of the "dismayed traders" complaining about the parking restrictions in Barbourne (EN April 27) and the resultant damaging effect on business.
I would further like to draw attention however to the new signage - or rather lack of it.
There are just TWO adjacent "permit holder only" signs covering FOUR streets, TEN feet up the air!
Now, I don't know about you but when I drive I look straight ahead NOT heavenwards!
Yes, there is the odd tatty, plastic sign tied to the odd lamp post reinforcing the restrictions but from a distance these could well be advertising the next local coffee morning and anyway, they keep disappearing.
I wonder if all this is just a sneaky way of "encouraging" unsuspecting motorists to park in streets empty of cars but now regularly frequented by the traffic warden?
He is a familiar figure too outside local businesses. Not all personnel live within bus or walking distance and so after 45 minutes permitted parking and with nowhere else convenient to park, they are easy pickings.
How much parking ticket revenue has been collected in the Barbourne area recently? Enough surely to pay for several additional warning signs and hopefully all at eye-level!
