SIR – August 29, 2016, marks the 20th anniversary of the world’s worst live animal export disaster, when 67,000 sheep were abandoned on a burning ship in the Indian Ocean.
Compassion in World Farming is holding a Global Day of Action calling on people across the globe to unite against the long distance trade in live animals. Campaigners from at least 23 countries will be taking action. At the harbour in Sydney a rally will be taking place, in Tel Aviv there will be a march and a rally will be held in London.
Every day countless animals endure unnecessary suffering in the live animal transport trade. Animals are still travelling from the UK to the continent.
Please get involved to help end this barbaric trade and help prevent animal suffering.
Write to your MP asking for live animal exports to be banned, give up eating meat to help stop animal suffering and join the Global Day of Action.
