sir – At last some common sense. I totally agree with Councillor Alan Amos [about extending pedestrianised hours]. When is a pedestrian area not a pedestrian area? When it's in Worcester apparently, or perhaps more precisely when the City Council and County Council continue to "pass-the-buck".
If the shops open at 9am until 5pm then that is when the 'wheeled menace' should be excluded, including push bikes. A-boards and street furniture already compromise the city centre, this does not help. If we cannot achieve a "safe-zone" from traffic then a traditional High Street may as well be re-introduced. Is the solution really this difficult or do we have to wait for an injury or further fatality?
