SIR -Your readers may not be aware that September 17 to 22 was National Payroll Week.
The week is intended to celebrate and promote the much maligned payroll function and all those who choose to work as a part of it. Perhaps all those collecting, or more importantly, spending their wages, could take a moment to consider how that money got into their account and to appreciate the work the payroll professionals put into trying to ensure all payments are correct.
As a payroll clerk myself I can confirm that staff receive a lot of irate calls from staff and we always try our best to accommodate their requests within the polices the company has set down.
It is a thankless role, but one in which our passion drives us to continually improve our legislative knowledge, and our internal processes in our pursuit of perfection in paying all employees accurately and on time.
SARAH GANDERTON, Worcester.
