SIR – Again we hear Councillor Amos ranting about people riding bicycles. He’s using big words like “topography” (for hills) and says opinion polls are often wrong.
But doesn’t he look at the numbers of people who are walking, running and cycling? They’re doing so because the streets are safer. This is not a phase, it’s a transition.
Go-ahead cities and provinces around the world are prioritising active travel. Even Grant Shapps put it front and centre in his Covid briefing on Thursday.
So, will Mr Amos listen to the people and give priority to those who use leg-power? We’ll have a fitter, less congested county.
