SIR - Many readers may not be informed that UKIP took Gorden Brown to court on Thursday, February 7.
The public should not expect promises made in Labour Party manifestos to be kept.
This claim was made by Gordon Brown's barrister at Brighton County Court in a case brought against him by a member of the UKIP.
Speaking for the Prime Minister, Cecelia Ivimy said that the manifesto pledges are not subject to legitimate expectation.
She was arguing that Gordon Brown had not committed a breach of contract by refusing to hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
So, Mr Brown can blatantly lie in his party's manifesto and get away with it. So, just how can anyone put a cross by any Labour candidate in any election after this fiasco of a court hearing?
JOHN WHITE, Evesham.
