Sir – Regarding the article, Post Office consultation was a sham, (Letters, November 5), of course, Councillor Gareth Jones is right.
It would seem from his letter that he is aware the decisions regarding the closures of our post offices were made many months ago in Brussels, not by our government, but by the dictatorial European Union of which this country, is member without consultation. Our government, supported by the Conservative and Liberal parties, simply follow instructions in the form of directives from the EU.
The efforts to have this decision reversed by consultation though admirable were pointless and the involvement of our MPs purely superficial. They just used the issue as an opportunity for a public relations exercise.
The only way to return government and control of this country to Westminster is our withdrawal from the European Union.
