SIR – I cannot understand why John Burgess is so vehemently against the Hunting With Dogs Act. In my opinion it should satisfy everyone.

The hunt can still meet and chase a scent and no jobs have been lost, no hounds or horses have been destroyed and they have a bigger following than ever. I would have thought with these things in mind the hunt would embrace the Act. As for the anti-hunt brigade, the cruelty of chasing a fox to its death with a pack of hounds is forbidden. I believe the Act should satisfy everyone. I know you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Both sides should accept this as the best they can get.

J NORWOOD,

Kidderminster.
