SIR – Regarding the hunting debate and Peter Luff’s comments regarding the fox.

It is quite evident that Mr Luff is not of the hunting fraternity and that he has not been briefed on what to say regarding fox hunting.

The hunt has always denied that they allowed and encouraged the fox to breed in the countryside in order that they could carry on their barbaric cruelty of cub hunting and fox hunting.

On one side Mr Luff argues the fox is vermin and needs to be destroyed but on the other side he says “without the hunt the fox would become extinct.” Perhaps Mr Burgess could enlighten us on this dilemma.
