SIR – Councillor Barry Mackenzie-Williams said he’s distressed to see the continuing misunderstanding surrounding the bus passes for the elderly and disabled.

For goodness sake Councillor Mackenzie-Williams stop treating the elderly as foolish.

We know we were given a bus pass and then restrictions put on it. It feels like being given something then half taken back.

So why is it district councils and other county councils can afford the bus pass but its Worcester who put restrictions on it?

You say you want to publish the facts – so let’s have all the facts.

How much do you get from the Government? How much does it costs to administer? How much does the bus company get?

Let’s have it all transparent because the previous Tory council treated the elderly very badly.

So let’s hope this new administration treat the elderly better.

JOHN SHEARON,
Worcester.
