SIR – I am writing in support of John Buckley (Letters, June 25) who wrote that Mr Foster had better watch out. Like John I also believe that the days of a Labour government are numbered. It is time for a change and I ask John to consider moving to the only party that, in his own words, showed appreciation for the dedicated work that he did as a Labour county councillor over the last eight years.

That citation came from Robin Walker and the Conservative party. To my knowledge John received no such thanks from the Labour party or Michael Foster. Looking at the attendance record of county councillors, published in the Worcester News, June 25, John Buckley together with another Labour councillor attended more meetings than any other Labour party councillor and this when he had to juggle visits abroad and so on for his global engineering business. A very creditable record.

John, please consider moving to the Conservative party instead of carrying on as an Independent. I am sure that they would welcome you with open arms.

PETER BURGESS,
Worcester.
