Sir – We read that Chancellor Alistair Darling is saying that more cuts are on the way.
It is also proposed that the money being paid for supporting people grants won’t be ring-fenced in 2009/10. This, of course, will allow the local councils to top-slice and divert this money to where they consider it best spent.
And we hear in the “whispering corridors” at County Hall that the Tory administration is considering taking even more money/services from our most vulnerable and older people.
So, whatever cuts central government are going to make, it looks as if the county and city councils could also be cutting even more older people’s services.
Brian Hunt,
Vice-chairman Worcestershire Pensioners Action Group.
