SIR – I live in Lower Wick and was disappointed when the island at the junction of Malvern Road and Bromwich Road was not planted this year.
I telephoned two of my local councillors and was informed that there were no sponsors this year.
A visit to Farrier Street to speak to a member of the parks department was also a waste of time.
On reading my Autumn edition of City Life and seeing how much the council are spending on other projects (despite having to economise) surely the few pounds involved in rescuing this island would be warranted. This is one of the first things that meet the eye when entering Worcester from the west and at the moment it is a miserable sight. What a welcome to Worcester. I do hope it is going to be planted for the coming seasons.
