SIR – I went to Birmingham by train, a round trip of about 60 miles at a cost of £4.75 return with a rail card. Had an early evening return and, instead of waiting for a bus from Shrub Hill decided on a taxi, cost £5.30 for trip to Warndon, roughly five minutes. What a rip off.
