Sir – I fully agree with the comments made by John Burgess (Letters, January 18). Helen Smart does not have a clue what she is talking about.

The Hunting Act is only marginally about animal welfare. To her it’s about class war and the “short- sighted views” of the League Against Cruel Sports and in part the RSPCA. It is not about pink coats (never seen one of those) or big horses (we have two) – it is about rural social interaction, something your type of people obviously have no concept of.
