SIR - I realise that it's dangerous to speak the truth these days, but isn't there something pretty rich about New Labour councillors going on about homelessness when more than two million people have been encouraged to come and live in Britain since 1997 by our New Labour Government?

When Labour sought power in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, they went on endlessly about poverty and homelessness. But since 1997, homelessness has doubled. Of course, these treacherous hypocrites have the status, power and wealth that they really wanted. Now, people whose backs they stood on to achieve power are left to fight it out for half decent accommodation with destitute people from across the globe.

EU enlargement is all about giving hundreds of millions more people British citizenship and the right to come here demanding homes, work, healthcare and so on.

Heaven knows what will happen to us as slaves in America's secret empire now that Labour have betrayed us for a fistful of dollars.

Perhaps we should make Guy Fawkes our patron saint and finish the job he started.

JIM EVANS,
