SIR - I would like to reply to Ken Carpenter of Claines, regarding his theory of commuting outside rush hours.
Ken can get around the M25, or travel along the A38 into Birmingham easily before commuting traffic begins. And you don't have to be a traffic guru to see the difference across the whole of the city when the schools are on holidays. So the message must be to change the whole structure of work and school hours so that all those people commuting from the north of the city and county should start their journeys earlier or later, or perhaps not at all.
However, along with the rest of the paid-up members of road users, they too are not to have the use of the missing link of our long awaited orbital road.
BRIAN HUNT,
Worcester.
