SIR - Once again the people of Worcester have to tolerate the lack of action of their MP, Mike Foster on the very important issue of health cuts. The government he represents has taken funding away from successful primary health care trusts in Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire to give to other trusts that are in debt.

What many people may not understand is that the cuts affect terminal illness beds and that collectively the number of beds being lost in Evesham, Pershore and Wyre Forest is 41.

Why is this important to the people of Worcester? The answer is that the patients who occupy those beds will now have to be treated at the Royal Worcestershire Hospital in Worcester. Equally, this may lead to quicker discharges at the Royal and one may ask, where are these patients to go when they leave hospital?

I am led to believe that City MP Mike Foster, has done nothing to alleviate the plight of his electors by way of putting pressure on the Health Minister, Patricia Hewitt.

It is such a pity that on this important issue, Mike Foster would rather put Labour Party loyalty above that of his constituents. He couldn't even be bothered to join other Worcestershire MPs, like Peter Luff, Julie Kirkbride, Jacquie Smith and Doctor Richard Taylor who have been far more vocal in their condemnation, to fight to stop these cuts.

He has made no attempt to set the record straight, particularly to those who are going to lose their jobs in the proposed shake-up.

Mr Foster, like the government he represents, shows all the signs of an MP completely out of his depth on most of the current issues. He should concentrate and work hard for the people who elected him or otherwise resign and make way for someone with more ability.
