Sir – What a shame that Mary Dhonau OBE has been forced to resign from her position as chief executive of the National Flood Forum (Worcester News, December 7).
Mary has tirelessly campaigned on behalf of flood victims across the country and is well respected by politicans and Environment Agency officials.
She is passionate about her work and she knows only too well through personal experience how devastating and distressing floods are.
Were it not for her constant battling the flood defence in Hylton Road, Worcester, would never have been built.
How, then, can Charles Tucker [NFF trustee board chairman] – who has no experience whatsoever in this field – make her position within the NFF so “untenable” that she has no choice but to leave?
It will be a great loss to all victims of flooding – past and present – when Mary hangs up her boots with the flood forum.
We wish her well in the future.
Andy and Bev Churchill, Worcester
