SIR – Simon McCullough maintains (Worcester News, May 17) that the majority of local people are against hunting but he fails to give us details of the independent opinion polls or surveys on which this wild claim is based.
Mr McCullough again asks if I consider hunting to be cruel. For the record I do not.
What should really concern us is Mr McCullough’s preferred method of killing foxes.
He suggests trapping them in a cage for possibly 20 hours, then giving a highly stressed animal in a totally alien environment a lethal injection.
This would be unselective, unnatural, impracticable and potentially cause extreme suffering. This glib idea clearly shows just how little Mr McCullough knows about this subject.
