SIR – Following a visit to Detroit’s Diner in Worcester on May 13 I sent an e-mail complaining about the experience.

The diner looks great and has a pleasant ambience, the waiting staff were smart and friendly and the waitress for our table was first class in her friendliness, attentiveness and willingness to please.

However, four out of six of us were astounded when we were presented with a dessert which really did not match the description on the menu.

A fifth member of our group was served a pie which was, quite frankly, both an abomination and inedible.

When we complained, the supervisor that evening, offered (to our incredulity) a replacement for the inedible tart with the other dessert we had complained about.

There was also a delay of one hour between our food being ordered and arriving.

In a party of six we all felt we had not had value for money and our complaint had not been dealt with seriously.

I still await a response to my e-mail. What a shame this diner seems to be satisfied with such poor customer service.
