SIR – Re the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
I would like to understand how local planners are able to support the continuing expansion of West Mercia Police headquarters and of Worcester rugby ground and yet reject well-constructed plans for a sports hub and a marina in the same area.
Surely both these plans would complement existing developments as well as bringing real benefits and new jobs to local communities.
The sports complex, in particular, would provide a new train station, a bypass, a new school and medical centre for an already expanding Fernhill Heath.
Surely a well thought out proposal such as this is exactly what a forwardthinking strategic review should be proposing, or am I missing something?
