SIR – Further to the article ‘Letdown for son of fantasybook great’ (Worcester News, June 22) and the letter from Bev Collins (Worcester News, June 24) saying how much she enjoyed the talk about the Life and Work of Mervyn Peake, the Worcestershire Literary Festival team is delighted to announce that we will be bringing Sebastian Peake back to Worcester on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 7.30pm at the Fownes Hotel, Worcester.

Feedback received by the Worcestershire Literary Festival team confirmed that although publicity clearly stated the venue was the city centre campus of the University of Worcester, with full address and directions, some people went to the university’s St John’s campus instead, so missed out.

We hope they and anyone else interested in Mervyn Peake’s work will come to the Fownes Hotel on October 29.

Any profit from the event will be donated to Parkinsons UK, as chosen by Sebastian himself – parkinsons.org.uk/mervynpe ake – and there will also be a raffle on the night.

Tickets cost £8 (£6 concessions) and can be obtained from the Worcester Live Box Office on 01905 611427 or worcesterlive.co.uk.

Fans of Mervyn Peake’s work and his books Titus Groan, Gormenghast and Titus Alone won’t want to miss this.

It is part of a series of events planned over the coming months to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mervyn Peake’s birth and his life and work.

This includes a Channel 4 series to be broadcast in the autumn.
