SIR – I was interested to read the article on the bombing of Highland Road, Worcester, ‘Was this the bombing raid that time forgot’ (Worcester News, August 26).
However, I wonder if Worcester News reader Philip Williams’ recollection of the year is correct.
As a young lad I well remember going on to the King George V playing fields to look at a bomb crater.
This, though, would have probably been in 1944 as I would have been far too young to have done this in 1940.
Also one must wonder why, if it happened in 1940, there was no publicity whereas there was in the case of the Meco bombing in 1940.
It will be interesting to hear if any others have memories of this bombing and can throw light on the year.
