SIR – Full marks and many thanks to Worcester MP Robin Walker for raising the long-standing problem of the unfair school funding postcode lottery with the Schools Minister, and also taking a delegation of Worcestershire headteachers to make this very important, powerful and long overdue case.
What a difference it makes to have an MP in Worcester who not only acknowledges that the current formula is grossly unfair, but also who is so vocal and proactive in trying to get the issue addressed.
Our children have been penalised for many years in terms of the funding they receive at school compared with many other areas, the unfairness further heightened by many successive annual percentage increases for no other reason than where they happen to live.
Our MPs are all now united in their fight to get this situation addressed and I urge as many parents as possible to make known their objections to them regarding this outrageous discrimination against our children.
