SIR – In the Worcester News (Tuesday, September 27), Councillor Simon Geraghty said that he was right to ditch the disabled parking in St Swithin’s Street, Worcester. How wrong can he be.

I am disabled and my mobility has become very poor in the last few years .

I can only walk short distances and can no longer use stairs without the use of a stairlift.

By getting rid of these disabled spaces, it has reduced the access to the city centre for disabled people such as me.

If the congestion is caused by the number of taxis, then surely the easy answer was to limit the number of taxis in that area that block the roads and get them to park elsewhere until a space becomes clear, then contact each other by radio.

I am also concerned that the Mayor of Worcester, Dr David Tibbutt, who is a retired doctor, has not commented on this matter so far.
