SIR – It was amazing to see Nick Clegg and his bunch of followers strut their stuff at the Liberal Democrat party conference in Birmingham recently, saying that the Liberal Democrats have delivered almost all of their election agenda.

So what have they delivered? Soaring jobless, rising immigration, a clapped out NHS and Britain being dragged down by Europe.

Not bad for a party that have a popularity rating in the polls of just nine per cent, a party that no one really knows what they stand for.

And their latest outburst was to say that they will destroy the Government if David Cameron tries to scrap the hated Human Rights Act.

So why is Mr Clegg so desperate to save this Act? It is a law that appears to protect the guilty and not the victims; a law that lets jailed terrorists stay in the country at taxpayers’ expense when our own judges want them deported.

It appears the worse the crime, the more the guilty are protected.

There is only one answer.

The Human Rights Act must be abolished and replaced with a British Rights Act to protect its citizens, and not those that come here to harm and cheat it.

It must be abolished however much Mr Clegg squeals or however much Brussels protests.
