SIR – The British taxpayer has forked out more than £25 million on crown court translators in just six years.

This is an outragous amount.

It works out at £11,437 a day for providing interperaters for foreign criminals, witnesses and victims.

This at a time when national newspapers are highlighting the fact that vital border checks for criminals and terrorists were secretly abandoned over the summer.

We are constantly giving out money to overseas countries and the EU when we should be investing in such things as our border police to stop undesirables coming here in the first place.

Home secretary Theresa May has a lot to answer for.

It must have been her sayso that allowed this to happen, and yet Mrs May still has plans to go ahead with cutting 5,000 jobs from the border agency.

Mrs May should be sacked immediatly from her post for such incompetence.
