SIR – Re ‘Are some councillors just in it for the money’ (Worcester News, May 17). I think some of them must be because some of the councillors are on the city council and the county council.
It does appear that there are far too many city and county councillors – we could get rid of half of them by rolling two jobs into one.
Another point is that it appears Trish Haynes earns more money than the Prime Minister.
Would she get a salary like that in the private sector? I doubt it very much.
But it’s so easy to pay big salaries when it’s other people’s money. It’s about time the people at the top start playing the game fairly.
