SIR – Why are the rules regarding the gangway on buses not being observed across the board?
Pushchairs are allowed but shopping trolleys are not.
Old ladies with trolleys are made to lift them on to the seat or being made to sit at the back and yet pushchairs with or without child (not babies) are being allowed to block gangways and even take priority over wheelchairs on the bus.
I have witnessed children running around at bus stops but once the parent sees the bus coming they are made to sit in the pushchair due to the laziness of the parent or the unwillingness, because of the amount of shopping they have loaded on, to fold the pushchair down.
Pushchairs are for babies and young children, shopping trolleys are for shopping.
Start charging for pushchairs, then see how many get on. After all, dogs have to be paid for.
